ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Sept. 3 (PIA) –Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) – Rizal officer-in-charge Esmeralda Mendoza announced that Rizal fisherfolk are set to be registered in the agency’s Fish R program.
Mendoza said Fish R is a registration for municipal fisherfolk in order for the agency to be able to keep track of them through the database. The Fish R records may then be used for identifying the fisherfolk for government intervention and support.
The first 100 municipalities to finish registrations will be given P2 million worth of livelihood intervention from the Department of Agriculture.
Mendoza also added the launching of Fish R in Calabarzon took place at Lucena City this September 3-4 where the LGUS, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (FARMC) leaders, BFAR extension officers and Calabarzon LGUs are attending. (GG-PIA4A)
