ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, October 1 (PIA) —Antipolo City has been repackaged as the City on the Mountain in line with the recently held Antipolo Tourism Fair at SM City Masinag last September 24.
The first tourism fair themed “Rediscover Antipolo: City on the Mountain” organized by the city government aims to promote Antipolo as an ideal tourist destination due to its cool climate with some similarity to Baguio or Tagaytay despite its close proximity to Manila.
Antipolo City Culture, Arts and Tourism officer-in-charge Marino Bacani noted during the launch that the city began to be recognized as a tourist spot due to its pilgrimage site, the Antipolo Cathedral.
“Pilgrims traditionally patronize cashew nuts and locally-made suman which contribute to the livelihood of locals,” Bacani said.
Also present during the launch were Antipolo City First Lady Andrea Bautista-Ynares representing Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares III, Department of Trade and Industry – Rizal Provincial Director Mercy Parreno, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Provincial Director Velma Salazar, city councillors and barangay officials.
The Tourism Fair was held from the September 23 to 30 and featured several local restaurants, resorts and events venues. (GG-PIA4A)
