ANTIPOLO City, Rizal , Sept. 3 (PIA) — Department Trade Industry (DTI)– Rizal conducted a Diskwento Caravan at the Guitnang Bayan I Covered Court, San Mateo, Rizal last August 30 to provide locals affected by the recent typhoon and flloding with discounted basic goods.
DTI-Rizal Provincial Director Mercedes Parreno, said the caravan was organized on a short notice last August 28 in a meeting held by the Rizal Local Price Coordinating Council led by the Provincial government, DTI and other line agencies such as the Department of Agriculture (on agriculture issues), Department of Health (on health incidences, waterborne diseases and dengue) and Philippine National Police (on the peace situation).
In line with this, DA could not impose a price ceiling on agricultural products due to problems encountered in local road networks and supply and demand.
The activity was also conducted in order to ensure the stability of prices in the province in line with the price freeze which comes with the State of Calamity declared in Rizal last August 22. Products available during the one-day activity were NFA rice, vegetables, canned goods, pancit noodles, canned goods and other basic goods. (GG-PIA4A)
