ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, July 1 (PIA)— Thirty-seven Rizal cooperative officers, board of directors and members recently have completed a three-day Financial Management Seminar (FMS) organized by the Cooperative Development Authority – Rizal, Department of Agrarian Reform –Rizal and training provider Tagalog Cooperative Development Center (Tagcodec) at Morong, Rizal.
The joint effort of the various agencies provided members of the Bagumbong Multipurpose Cooperative, Niogan Agrarian Reform Beneficiary MPC, Sampaloc ARB MPC, Corazon de Jesus MPC, Samahan ng mga Nagkakaisang Magsasaka ng Balimbing, DAR Employees MPC, Magsasaka ng San Jose MPC and Daraitan ARC MPC with trainings and workshops on proper financial paperwork and documentation in order to enhance the performance of local cooperatives.
Capability increasing trainings such as the FMS are conducted by the CDA nationwide in compliance with RA 9520 otherwise known as the Philippine Cooperative Code of 2008 wherein cooperative leaders and board of directors including are required to undergo such trainings to ensure their capabilities as co-op leaders. The 28-hour Financial Management Seminar was held for 3 days (June 26-28) in order to comply with the required training.
CDA-Rizal Cooperative Development Specialist Bienvenida Celestra together with DAR Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer Cecilia Reyes and Tagcodec CEO Violeta Pingo congratulated and reminded the attendees of the importance of financial management and cautioned them that mismanagement is a leading cause of unsuccessful cooperatives.
DAR Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer II Ruben Nepomuceno encouraged co-op members to use what they have learned from the training in order for their cooperatives to flourish.
