ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Aug 1 (PIA) — Twenty one farmers of the Sampaloc Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SARBMPC) of Tanay, Rizal were recently trained in ginger candy processing through the inter-agency initiative of the Department of Science and Technology – Rizal Provincial Science and Technology Center and Department of Trade and Industry and Department of Agrarian Reform Provincial Offices.
Maria Elsa Falco and Melvin Espeña from the Industry Technology Development Institute – DOST taught the farmers last July 29 at the cooperative’s processing center in Sampaloc, Tanay. The seminar aims to create a new product line for the co-op members for ginger which is available and accessible in the community.
The training and process of processing raw material into ginger candy and other products is seen beneficial to creating business opportunities for the cooperative. (GG-PIA4A with reports from DOST-Rizal)
