Antipolo farmers co-op receive DoLE, DAR grant

ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, July 15 (PIA) –Members of the San Jose, Antipolo City’s Panusugin Upland Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative have received P248,725 through a grant from the Department of Labor and Employment and Department of Agrarian Reform Rizal Provincial Offices.

The grant aims to enhance the agrarian community’s organic cucumber processing business through buying equipment and raw materials.

DOLE – Rizal Senior Labor and Employment Officer Vicky Natanauan handed over the check to the officers of the cooperative last July 12 at Sitio Panusugin, Brgy. San Jose, Antipolo City. Natanauan added that DOLE will be monitoring the recipients of the grant to ensure that the funds will be utilized on the project agreed upon (cucumber pickling/processing).

“We encourage the farmers to make good use of the government grant to help uplift the cooperative and members lives.” Stated Natanauan.

The grant was done through a collaboration of national government agencies’ provincial offices; DAR identified the PUF-MPC as a capable recipient of a financial grant, Department of Science and Technology provided a series of seminars on cucumber brining and pickling and the Department of Trade and Industry conducted seminars on packaging and marketing prior to the to DOLE’s financial assistance.
