ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, April 23 (PIA)— The Department of Science and Technology – Rizal in cooperation with the regional office, local Department of Education and COMELEC recently held a certification test for 3,329 Board of Election Inspectors from the province’s 13 municipalities and 1 component city.
The exams were held from March 8 to March 28 at Las Brisas Hotel and Gems Hotel both in Antipolo City.
The BEIs consist of chairmen, poll clerks and 3rd members.
The agency certified 2,602 BEIs who passed while 727 failed the tests and will have to be recertified before the elections resulting to 78.2 percent of Rizal BEIs passing the tests.
Common mistakes made by BEIs involve the printing of election results as well as the transmission. Transmission of the results is done on the election day itself.
According to DOST, Rizal province has the lowest number of BEIs in Calabarzon in comparison to Cavite which has the most number of BEIs with more than four thousand. DOST Calabarzon has already completed the certification tests and is currently tallying the results in all provinces of the region. (Gideon Gapayao/Media ng Bayan)
