ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, April 1 (PIA) — Two hundred 200 bikers, policemen and army personnel took part in the Philippine National Police-Rizal Provincial Police Office’s biking activity in line with the Secure and Fair Election 2013 (SAFE 2013).
The activity dubbed Bike for SAFE 2013 was held last March 23 and covered the route starting from the Rizal PPO, Taytay, Rizal to Cabrera Road, Manila East Road Don Mariano Santos Avenue, Angono, Antipolo, ML Quezon, Ortigas and Beverly Hills before closing the loop towards Cabrera Road returning to the PPO.
Registration opened at 5:30am while the bike-a-thon proper started 6am and ended at around 9:30am. Rizal Provincial Police Director PSSUPT Rolando Anduyan also joined the bikers throughout the activity.
A peace prayer was also held after the biking portion as the second part of the program.
Invited guests who gave messages included Fr. Moises Villanueva of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), Acting Provincial Election Officer Atty. Juanito Ravanzon Jr., DepEd Superintendent Carlito Rocafort and 16th Infantry Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Norwyn Romeo Tolentino.
According to Rizal PPO Police Community Relations head PINSP Ana Lisa Reyes, the event was done to promote SAFE 2013 and to encourage locals and sports enthusiasts for a safe and clean election season. (Gideon Gapayao/Media ng Bayan)
