Sec. Roxas awards brand new firetruck to Antipolo city gov’t

ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, March 1 (PIA) — Antipolo City has received a brand new Rosenbauer TLF fire truck from Department of the Interior and Local Government at a turnover ceremony at the PNP Grandstand, Quezon City

The fire truck was acquired from the Austrian government represented by Ambassador Wilhelm Donko was received by Antipolo Mayor Danilo Leyble.

“We thank President Noynoy Aquino and DILG Secretary Mar Roxas for providing the new Rosenbauer fire truck which will be of great help to our city. We will also continuously support programs for the betterment of our citizens and country,” Leyble said.

Antipolo City was among the 38 local government units who received the fire Trucks from Secretary Roxas. The criteria in selection of recipients include the population ratio; population density; number of fire incidents; number of deaths and injuries and the amount of population as prepared by the National Economic Development Authortiy (NEDA).

Secretary Roxas thanked the local government units in implementing the Aquino administration’s programs.

“The distribution of fire trucks is part of the late Secretary Jesse Robredo’s program of modernizing the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). We hope that we will that the citizens will continue to support us in order for us to provide more services to them” said Sec. Roxas

The new fire truck is capable of discharging 2,400 liters of water per minute at 62 meters horizontally and 24 meters vertically or equivalent to an eight storey building. Small hoses can be pulled out for quick response suppression while a rapid intervention hose can use chemical suppressants to fight chemical-caused fires. (PIO/CPG/GG/PIA-4A)
