ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Feb 27 (PIA) — Cooperative Development Authority Region 4 OIC Director Salvador Valeroso and CDA Rizal Provincial Cooperative Development Specialist Bienvenida Celestra oriented over 100 cooperative representatives on social and performance audit requirements at Patricio Jarin Elementary School, Tanay, Rizal.
Representatives from around 42 cooperatives in Teresa, Binangonan, Cardona, Tanay, Morong, and Baras, Rizal attended the said orientation led by Valeroso to brief them on the newly implemented requirements to be passed starting this year namely the performance and social audits.
Valeroso said that the new social and performance audits will be implemented starting this 2013 and must be submitted within 120 days after the end of the fiscal year (December 31) or at around April.
According to Rizal Provincial Cooperative Development Council Chairman Martiniano Tambongco the seminars held by CDA for the local cooperatives aim to improve knowledge and in turn boost their performance as well as to inform them of new policies and procedures.
“While there are some cooperatives in Rizal that are successful, most co-ops are still struggling and in need of the trainings,” said Tambongco.
Tambongco noted that there are some instances wherein smaller cooperatives fail to send representatives due to the high cost of some trainings especially those which involve travel outside the province and higher registration fees. However, he still encouraged other cooperatives to send members and leaders for seminars and orientations.
“CDA is the regulatory agency which is tasked to hold trainings for cooperatives like ours. We know that some cannot send members at times but we encourage them to do so and not to think of it as a waste of funds,” added Tambongco.
CDA currently holds seminars, trainings, and orientations for cooperatives within the province to avoid higher costs due to travel and other expenses. (GG-PIA4A) – See more at: http://pia.gov.ph/news/index.php?article=2261361940158#sthash.BCQfBTct.dpuf
