ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Feb. 20 (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Rizal Provincial Office awarded the Certificate of Accreditation for Consumer Welfare Desk to SM Hypermarket-Antipolo Branch.

The Certificate of Accreditation was personally awarded by DTI-Rizal Provincial Director Mercedes Parreño to Mr. Novie Singuay, supervisor of SM Hypermarket in a simple ceremony held at the DTI-Rizal Office last February 14, 2013.

The setting up of Consumer Welfare Desk (CWD) in different business establishments is a DTI program which aims to address the complaints of consumers in a fast, hassle-free and effective manner right there at the place where the purchase was made.

The CWD program highlights the cooperation between the government and the business sector in giving high priority in upholding consumers’ rights.

At present, DTI-Rizal has already accredited 61 Consumer Welfare Desks in the whole province of Rizal which is composed mainly of big supermarkets, groceries and retail stores, appliance stores and repair shops, and motorcycle stores.

With the vibrant economy and growing population in Rizal, it is expected that more retail establishments will be established.
