438 Rizal couples join PAG-IBIG mass wedding

ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Feb. 15 (PIA) — Home Development Mutual Fund (PAG-IBIG) and several Rizal LGUs wed 438 couples through the agency’s “I Do. I Do. Araw ng Pag-Ibig” free mass wedding activity held yesterday, February 14, Valentines’ Day.

PAG-IBIG Antipolo OIC Christian Chua, said, “I Do. I Do.” was first conducted last year and will be held yearly on Valentines’ Day for members who wish to be married especially those who do not have the means for a ceremony.

The activity, held in coordination with the LGUs nationwide, aims to promote information and benefits of PAG-IBIG savings programs through dubbing Valentines’ Day as “Araw ng PAG-IBIG”.

The agency provided the couples’ meals, wedding rings, bouquets and giveaway mugs while the LGUs processed necessary documents for marriage licenses for free.

Aside from wedding necessities, PAG-IBIG also conducted a nationwide raffle draw with two major prizes at stake (Kabuhayan Showcase worth P 25,000 and House and Lot Package worth P 400,000) for one winner each.

Minor prizes were also drawn for several winners per local venue. PAG-IBIG Antipolo raffled out LED TVs, DVD players, washing machines and electric fans as minor prizes for newlyweds in Rizal.

This year, wedding ceremonies were held at the municipalities of Taytay, Tanay and Rodriguez, Rizal. Out of the PAG-IBIG’s 438 registered couples 180 were wed in Taytay by Mayor Joric Gacula, 105 in Tanay wed by Mayor Rafael Tanjuatco and 153 in Rodriguez by Mayor Cecilio Hernandez. The wedding ceremonies in Rodriguez and Taytay was held 11a.m. while the ceremony in Taytay was held at 2 p.m.

Meanwhile, PAG-IBIG wed around 2,156 couples in the National Capital Region and 2,283 couples in all regions nationwide for a total of 4439 married couples for “I Do. I Do.” this 2013.

Vice President and PAG-IBIG Fund Chair Jejomar Binay and PAG-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Atty. Darlene Marie Berberabe also gave messages to the newlyweds via recorded videos.

OIC Chua also thanked the LGUs and public for their support in PAG-IBIG’s program and greeted the newlyweds.

“We congratulate the newlyweds and would like to let them know that PAG-IBIG is with them and is willing to assist them in their members’ contributions and savings for their future as a family.”
