ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, November 28 (PIA)— Department of Labor and Employment-Rizal distributed 20 Nego Karts and start up materials to local beneficiaries in order to aid their livelihood.
DOLE together with the Rizal Provincial Government held the awarding of Nego Karts during the flag raising ceremony at the Provincial Capitol, Antipolo City, Rizal last November 26.
According to DOLE-Rizal Senior Labor and Employment Officer Vicky Natanauan, the distribution of carts is a nationwide activity held by the department for the past three years. Beneficiaries are identified by Public Employment Service Office managers from all municipalities and cities of Rizal while the carts are funded by DOLE after bidding and procurement processes.
“We are very thankful for the Nego Kart. It is also a big help for us to cope with our daily expenses through starting a small business with my wife.” said Elvin Cortez of Cainta, Rizal. Cortez is a visually impaired beneficiary recommended by the local PESO for the DOLE program. Beneficiary Emmanuel Gellido of Jalajala, Rizal also expressed his gratitude for the government aid. “The Nego Kart would help my family and small business very much. ” he said. Gellido has already been operating a fishball cart business but needs a new cart to continue it due to the poor condition of the old one.
The Nego Karts, worth P 18,000 each, were delivered to the capitol for pickup while P 1,000 worth of starter materials for a fishball cart business (fishballs, barbeque sticks, cooking oil, raw materials for sauce, etc.) were also distributed to the beneficiaries. (GG-PIA4A)
