ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Nov 22 (PIA) — The National Nutrition Council – 4A and the Communicators’ Network for Nutrition in Region 4A (CNN 4A) will be focusing on promoting breastfeeding, vegetable & fruit consumption, and complementary feeding throughout the region.
According to the National Nutrition Survey 2011, Calabarzon ranked third lowest in breastfeeding. The region also posted an increasing trend on stunting among preschool children. Findings also show that vegetable and fruit eating remains unpopular in the provinces.
Among the planned activities include IEC material distribution, nutrition caravans and further strengthening of the ongoing School on the Air program featuring various nutritional information.
NNC and CNN 4A also plan to work with the Philippine Information Agency to further strengthen information dissemination of the advocacies.
The media group’s thrust was discussed during a Communication Planning Workshop held at the Hotel Kimberly, Tagaytay City from November 20 to 21 where a number of media practitioners and information officers throughout the region convened to form communication and action plans for 2013. (GG-PIA4A)
