ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Nov. 10 (PIA) — Rizal province strengthens its awareness campaign promoting the rights of person with disabilities (PWDs) through the Araw ng May Kapansanan ng Rizal, November 9, at the Ynares Center, Antipolo, Rizal.
With the theme “Kahit May Kapansanan, May Kakayahan, May Karapatan,” various activities were conducted that showcased the talents and artistic creativity of PWDs from all over the province. Outstanding PWDs of Rizal were also given recognition and awards.
Carmen Zubiaga, acting executive director of the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) and guest speaker for the event, was awarded the Award of Excellence for championing the rights of PWDs.
“We will always be supportive of our PWDs. The provincial government will always be in the forefront in advocating the rights and supporting the welfare of PWDs,” said Gov. Ynares
Now that we have numerous laws and ordinances that promote the rights of PWDs, this event is an important reminder to increase social awareness on the rights of PWDs and to encourage everyone to take part in giving them a better community and a better future he said.
