The festival falls during the founding anniversary of Tanay and is based on the expression “Hane” used by locals when trying to get the approval of the one being spoken to.
The first Hane festival was held November 2011 through the initiative of the LGU; this year’s edition, themed “Turismo at Kalikasan sa Tanay, Ipagmalaki, Hane!” will lasts four days in contrast to last year’s 10-day celebration.
A Fun Run will kick off the festivities at 5 a.m.on November 9 at the assembly place at I. Yujuico St for the 3k and 5k runs.
Activities such as the Palaro ng Lahi featuring traditional native games, an Agri-Trade Fair and Exhibit, Rock Balancing Exhibit, Culinary Contest and the Tanay Art Exhibit will take place later that day while the Mutya ng Tanay 2012 contest and coronation night will take place in the evening.
The Street Dancing Competition , SMB (San Miguel Beer) Street Party, Float and People’s Parade and Grand Show-Off Night will be held during the weekend before Hane Festival ends on Monday, Nov. 12 with a Thanksgiving Mass, the Corononation Night for Ginang Kalikasan and other awarding ceremonies.
