DTI-Rizal to reinforce bamboo industry through summit

ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Nov 8 — Department of Trade and Industry-Rizal is pushing for the development of the local bamboo industry through the Rizal Provincial Bamboo Summit on November 20 at the Kawayan Farm, Halayhayin, Pililia, Rizal.

The summit, with the theme “Pagbubuklod-buklod sa Makabagong Pananaw tungo sa Mausbong at Maunlad na Industriyang Kawayan ng Rizal,” is an offshoot of the recently concluded National Bamboo Congrees at the World Trade Center, Pasay City. Entrepreneurs, farmers and stakeholders will be able to assess the bamboo industry’s potential.

The bamboo’s significance for the socio-economic and environmental benefits will also be highlighted together with briefings, consultations and a discussion on product’s value chain during the said event.

A ceremonial bamboo planting ceremony will also be conducted in line with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ National Greening Program.
Speakers from the DTI regional and provincial offices, DENR-Rizal and the local and provincial government will also be present during the Bamboo Summit. Chair for the Senate Committee on Climate Change Senator Loren Legarda, DTI Undersecretary for Regional Operations and Development Group Merly Cruz, Rizal Governor Jun Ynares III and Pililia Mayor Leandro Masikip are also expected to give messages during the meet.
