ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Nov 6 (PIA) — Aside from cityhood, Taytay, Rizal is also targeting municipality-wide wi-fi connections and more closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras for public safety.
Government hopes to activate the connection by 2015. The wi-fi transmitters will be connected with several CCTV cameras placed throughout the municipality said Mary Lucette Dela Rosa, Taytay public information officer.
The local government has carried out the first phase of the three-part plan including the placement of CCTV cameras in major roads and areas before it installs 10 more in other roads, establishments, and Barangay San Isidro as part of its second phase. Upon installation of the CCTV camera network, Taytay will activate the wi-fi connections.
There are currently nine installed cameras in four of Taytay’s five barangays (barangays Muzon, San Juan, Sta Ana, and Dolores) and other main roads.
The CCTV cameras are wired to a command center at the Taytay municipal hall manned 24/7 to monitor public safety and provide quick responses through their connections to the local health, fire and police offices. The command center is also set for renovation upon approval of the local government’s 2013 budget. (GG-PIA4A)
