ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Oct 2 (PIA) — The National Statistics Office Rizal tackled their agency’s basic functions and future programs during the first ‘PIA Talakayan sa SM’ in the province last September 27 held at SM Masinag, Antipolo City, Rizal.
Provincial Statistics Officer Nelia Ballesfin discussed basic NSO services to the local media and participants of the forum. She said the agency also does surveys on services and establishments other than birth certificate services.
NSO also initiated the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) from October 1 to November 7. It is a nationwide program which aims to collect basic information from farmers, farm laborers and fishermen through house-to-house interviews at the barangay level.
The gathered data will then be used to create an electronic database for programs involving the agricultural sector. The gathered data also prevents ‘padding’ of data pertaining to the number of farmers or land area. Funds and grants will also be given the farmers listed in the database.
For inquiries regarding birth certificates and other services, NSO Rizal may be reached through landline number 696-6366 or visited at the provincial office at the Ground floor of Budgetlane, Antipolo City, Rizal. Aside from the provincial office, NSO also has 3 district offices in Rizal; Taytay, Morong and Antipolo City.
PIA Talakayan sa SM is a weekly press briefing held at several SM malls in Calabarzon through a partnership between the Philippine Information Agency Calabarzon regional office and SM malls. Guest speakers from line government agencies from the province and region are invited to discuss their projects and programs and answer questions from the local media.
PIA 4A Regional Director Norito Cabotaje said PIA’s partnership with SM also serves as one of the company’s many corporate social responsibilities. (CPG/GG-PIA4A)
