ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Oct 2 (PIA) — The National Nutrition Council 4A has assembled a media group to support the agency in promoting good nutrition in the region.
The media group was created in the regional media organizational meeting and planning workshop held last September 27-28 led by NNC at the Eastern Manila Hotel and Training Center, Las Brisas Compound, Ortigas Avenue Extension, Antipolo City, Rizal.
The elected officers of the NNC media group are from the pool of provincial and city information officers, including the Philippine Information Agency 4A and local media who will have frequent coordination with the agency on programs and initiatives involving nutrition.
Provincial and nutrition action officers also participated in the workshop.
The two-day workshop also reviewed past efforts by the local media funded by either the local government unit or the NNC as well as regional action plans and individual commitments made by the participants.
NNC said Calabarzon has been identified as one of the regions with the lowest vegetable consumption in the country.
It commissioned a 2005 Food and Nutrition Research Institute study which indicates that high prices, availability and safety issues among others, are the cause of low vegetable consumption resulting to poor nutrition. (CPG/GG-PIA4A)
