ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Oct 20 (PIA) — Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) will jumpstart its 43rd anniversary with the Freedom Run by the Lake together with the Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftungfur die Freiheit (FNF) on October 21 at the Club Manila East Compound, Taytay, Rizal.
LLDA and the non-profit organization FNF will be holding the annual fun run the morning of October 21 with the meeting place at the Taytay Municipal Hall.
The new LLDA song written by singer-composer Noel Cabangon will also be launched on day of the fun run.
Participants to the 3K and 10K runs are encouraged to bring their own water containers instead of plastic bottles in order to help in reducing pollution.
The first finishers of the 10K fun run will receive P 3,000; P 2,000 and P1,000 for first, second and third places respectively while other prizes will also be given by sponsors such as Merrell shoes and McDonald’s.
All citizens are encouraged to join the fun run. FNF also held a freedom run last year at the UP Diliman aimed to raise public awareness against corruption.
Corruption is not only seen within the government but in an average citizen’s lifestyle such as the sort of living that causes pollution in the Laguna Lake, LLDA General Manager and Presidential Adviser for Environmental Protection Neric Acosta said.
Also in line with the agency’s 43rd anniversary, a dedication and ground breaking ceremony will be held at the site of the new LLDA office at the National Ecology Center, East Avenue, Quezon City.
The new LLDA headquarters will be located on a 3,021 square meter lot at the National Ecology Center with a gross floor are of 5,600 square meters designed with green features utilizing nature light and ventilation in its location and harvesting rainwater for flushing.
Vice President Jejomar Binay, House Speaker Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte Jr., Department of Budget and Management Butch Abad, Department of Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Ramon Paje, Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, Rizal Governor Jun Ynares III and Laguna Governor E.R.
