ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Sept 4 (PIA) — The office of the vice president will send relief goods to several barangays of Jalajala, Rizal which are still recovering from floods and higher water levels of the Laguna Lake due to heavy rains caused by the southwest monsoon.
Jalajala Municipal Information Officer Wally Dela Vega said Vice President Jejomar Binay will send around 2,500 packs of relief goods today at the Jalajala town proper covered court. Mayor Elionor Pillas, members of the Sangguniang Bayan and all barangay captains will attend the distribution.
The local government reported that some evacuees affected by the floods have already returned to their homes. Dela Vega said it may take up to two months or more before the rest can return to their homes.
He added that while evacuees from 10 barangays have already returned to their homes, the local government has pegged those who returned at only 40 to 50 percent of the total affected people. (CPG/GG-PIA4A)
