“Pag-IBIG has already processed calamity loans brought about by Bagyong Gener and the monsoon last August. As of September 7 the total number of calamity loan applications for active members in Rizal is 8,781,” said Pag-IBIG Antipolo Officer-In-Charge Christian Chua.
He said the office is handling around 1,200 pending applications and counting. “However, the applications are only for the affected areas in Rizal province,” Chua said.
The province of Rizal declared a state of calamity last August 9 due to damages caused by the monsoon and Gener. However, the local governments of Antipolo and the municipalities of Baras, Morong, Pililia, Taytay and Teresa have already lifted the state of calamity.
As of September 12 the municipalities of Angono, Cainta, Rodriguez, San Mateo, Tanay, Cardona, Jalajala and Binangonan have not yet lifted their declarations.
Chua said applications are accepted up to 90 days upon the declaration of state of calamity which started August 9. Pag-IBIG clients with approved applications are allowed to loan up to 80 percent of their total savings with a 5.95 percent interest rate.
